Kiosk of Duty. Case Study.
There’s a trend in the gaming world to run video games on unexpected devices. And when someone hacked a McDonald’s kiosk to run video games on it, the internet went crazy, until it was revealed that it was fake, it was then the perfect opportunity for us to spring into action.
Burger King couldn’t let gamers down. So, in partnership with Call of Duty, we invited people to play on our own kiosks— for real. We hacked our own ordering kiosks from different markets to give gamers the chance to play Modern Warfare 2 during the game’s launch week and those who completed the game’s mission got a limited-edition meal and an exclusive in-game skin.
An army of gamers came to our restaurants, and in a week we had more than 11,000 minutes played, 720,000 meals sold, and garnered more than $26 million in earned media.
